Institutional background

1) The institution that produced the huger games was the film company "Colour Force".

No brand loyalty

1) The genre of this film would fit into sci-fi.

2) I would say the movie fits this genre because it consists  of thing like futuristic ships and technology and future revolution.

3) Yes, my chosen movie is a sequel.

3a) The prequel of this movie  which is the first shows what the movie is about and what the the title of the movie actually means and this movie which is the sequel gets to the main parts like what will happen to change this and so on.

It's all a matter of timing

1) The uk release date for the chosen film was on the 11th November 2013.

2) The first trailer for the movie i am doing appeared on the 14th April 2013. Here it is:

3) More examples that were shown of this movie or presented this movie before the release date were these:

A social thing

1) The majority of the review for this movie that i read were good and in fact from the words said the writers of the reviews actually loved the mov some more than others.

2) Here are three quotes that prove my point above:
"Easily the most sophisticated and thoughtful franchise film of 2013, Lawrence’s adaptation of the second novel in Suzanne Collins’ young adult series"
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – which honestly required nothing more than that to be considered successful -- is something truly remarkable"
"Jennifer Lawrence is one of our best young actresses, and she shines as the stubborn, courageous, vulnerable and (sometimes reluctantly) heroic Katniss."

Risky business
1) The original budget for this movie was 78 million dollars.

3) Jennifer Lawrence has also appeared in the movies X-MEN first class which both have something on the concept of revolutionising the world.

4) The main star of the movie is mentioned in the main trailer but not the director of the movie.

Movie NCIS

Genre: Action

Narrative
The storyline as you can visualise is of an alien looking man from another planet called krypton which was unstable and as a result detonated. A baby from that planet was sent to earth in a spaceship and what followed was the cause of the destruction of krypton and when the baby arrives to earth the radiation of the son changes the baby's body in ways of strength power and intelligence.

Character
The characters are of any typical superhero movie, there is an heroic human with mystical powers in disguise ( in this case an extra terrestrial who doesn't differ in looks) who is secretly in love with an ordinary lady with dazzling looks, who is always in need of heroic assistance. You will also see the characters least popular like the lady's friends or co-workers or the superhero's parents.

Iconography
There is large amounts of iconography like the superhero meeting the lady by saving her, the kiss, The side battles and lost but not least the final and most breath taking site, the boss battle.

Setting
There are a variety of setting like the farm where he was raised from child to adult, the arctic when the superhero learns where he originated from and the big city where the main fight scenes occur which consists of being in restaurants, banks and skyscrapers, right out in the open either in the streets or in mid air above the city.

Genre: Action, Adventure and Comedy.

Narrative
The storyline is about a group of young teenage mutated turtles being trained by a their master ( a human mutated into a rat) into unstoppable skilful ninjas therefore being the phrase they are called by-Teenage mutant ninja turtles. They in the eyes of the audience are heroes seeing as they save the whole city from an invasion from and elite criminal ninja who has some personal history with the gang and especially with their master.

Character
The characters consumed by this adventurous movie are inhuman as you could say  but have the emotions and action of human, there are four mutated turtles who are experts at ninjutsu. They are trained by a male human mutated rat who has skill martial arts skill beyond anyone you could think could exist or even imagine. There enemy is beyond your imagination, he is a man of skill and money. one word. Unstoppable. But those word for the four only mean to work harder.

Iconography
The amount of amazing iconography is stunning. The fights scenes are to die for the graphics and the acrobatics of the four ninjas are amazing. This makes this movie a one of kind. The fights especially where there are many for the four to take on are definitely without doubt the best there skill level compared to there enemies as you can tell from the iconography has a large difference in the turtles favour.

Setting
There is a variety of setting from bridges to subways to on top of buildings, but to sum that all up to one setting it would be new York city. There are so many types of setting changing from scene to scene fight to fight its hard to keep count but it all takes place in a large city.

Genre: Action, Thriller

Narrative
The story line is about a boy who has lost his mother and is only left with his neglectful father and big headed brother. His brother would tell him to be a man and to ask the girl he had liked since he had first laid his eyes on her, and in the process he would help her film something in an abandoned barn and as resulting unstoppable tornadoes start to bombard anything that is a constriction in their path and the next tornado would always be the worst especially the final one. The largest tornado to ever set course upon the earth.

Character
The characters in this movie vary, you have the obnoxious brother, the work first father, the main character having the worst time of his life, the girl he's loved since the beginning of time, as the trailer shows. You can tell this but the way the characters talk and what they say.

Iconography
The iconography is so realistic it seems as if you were actually in the movie or that you were actually within the tornado. The graphics are just extraordinary compared to recent tornado movies especially as they have different types of tornadoes. But the best, was the final tornado it was the most gigantic and lethal ever to take place on the earth.

Setting
The setting like the movie before vary's from places like a barn, to open ground, to farms, to schools to the the big city and to even more. You can tell this because i the trailer it shows many scenes with different setting of where all the tornadoes occurred.

3 types of screen shot useful in a movie scene

This is a medium close up shot showing what seems to be a troop of future police officers in pursuit for someone who may be dangerous and you can tell that from seeing there is more than one cop on the scene so this may show the next scene might be a bit physical. This type of shot comes in handy when you want to see what is going on like if you were looming at them yourself which it looks like how the picture is taken so you ca see most of the scene taking place.

This is a wide shot and from looking at it you can define two men in the picture on the hood of an old, rusty and decaying car toppling over each over to get enough balance to stay up and hold the other one down but as you can se the situation is out of control and the other cops behind them cant seem to reach them to stop the vigilantly and rescue the cop from the situation. This scene is perfect for using wide shot because you can see the action that is happening in this intense scene and where this chase for this mysterious man is taking place.

this type of shot is a close up and as you can tell the man is worried and this type of shot is used in scenes to show how the character is feeling and what type of characteristics they have and i  this case you cant this man is feeling tired and wondering what his next move shall be and he might even be scanning for any escape routes he can find in his place he is at.

10 types of pictures

This is a wide shot and this type of shot is there to mainly set the scene of where the story or thing you are doing is taking place or when you are on a news scene.

This picture is taken from  a high angle to portray the person in the picture as being small, weak and vulnerable.

This picture is taken from a low angle to portray the person in the picture as being big and strong and drunk with power.

This shot is a medium close up and this type of shot is used to show what type of person the character is and what type of characteristics they have.

This is a close up shot and this type of shot is used for how the expressions on the face show how the character is feeling.

This is an over the shoulder shot. This shows that that a male character may be talking or communicating in some way and type way he is staring may suggest this is a tense scene and something serious may happen.

This is called a medium shot and in this shot you can tell a fight is taking place and the scene is fierce and severe. This type of shot is usually used to show an action someone is taking.

This is an extreme close up shot and this kind of shot is normally also to tell how the character is feeling by looking into there eyes.

Advert Liar

Language: The first key convention that tells you this is an advert is the logo in the bottom right hand corner. The slogan above saying "your time has come" gets the audience concerned and makes them think that the game "NBA2K15" is made for them so that they should play it rather then rival sports games like Fifa 15. one of the key images of the advert is the amazing NBA superstar Kevin Durant. This famous athlete was chosen to show to fans that this game is actually sponsored and can let you play as these masters of basketball. The light and colours give the effect that you can not know what is actually happening and be there unless you buy the game so you can see everything in action rather then not buying it at all and just wondering what it is like outside the NBA world. The image of Kevin Durant creates an atmosphere that he is what is keeping everything in balance.

Institution: The major institution behind this advert is NBA (National Basketball Association) an basketball league that sets up basketball matches in american teams and also Microsoft
a multinational corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers and services. The words "your time has come" may suggest that these inspiring words are trying to get you in a really good mood to play this came which may also suggest that there is a rival sports game and is challenging them and the quality of the sports game compared to this one.

Audience: The target for this audience is mainly basketball fans or maybe sports fans in general. NBA2K15 producers will also be targeting Fifa 15 fans/players by suggesting  new gaming features appearing in the upcoming game. The gender who are fans of this type of thing may be as much as 80% male and 20% female. the age range would be wide but it is probably focused on the age group of 8 to 20. Due to NBA being the most popular in American and also in England, the advert will be aimed at kids to teens looking to be future basketball stars or people who are just into basketball but are not thinking about having it as a career.

Representation: The representation on this advert is exclusively black and male. This is  quite surprising considering the NBA has an enormous amount of white players and you'd expect them to be featured on an advert like this. Even though it is not surprising an advert for NBA league (a male league) is dominated by male players, it does serve to highlight the important media debate regarding the lack of presentation for women's sport. There is very little TV coverage of women's sport outside of the Olympics and this advert only serves to emphasise that the vast majority of money and coverage is concentrated on male athletes.

  •

3)
The target audience for channel 4 news is somewhere between the ages of 20 to 60. Youngers like 13 to 17 year olds may watch the news for knowledge on whats going on in the world so there is not a specific age on the audience on watching the news but it is somewhere along the lines given by the age written above.

4)
The first day :

1.     Israel and Palestine conflict. 2.     MH17 victims’ bodies arrive in Netherlands.

3.     Metropolitan police spy on victims’ families.

4.     Commonwealth games ceremony.

I think that the editors put these stories in this particular order due to the information that and the most importance of them also in the positivity let the bad news out first then give the good news to make the audience feel better.

The second day:

1.     Israel and Palestine conflict cause an American soldier to dies fighting for Israel.
2.     Metropolitan police deny spying on victims but admit to gathering information without the victims’ families’ knowledge on 18 different cases.
3.     Europe struggle to agree on sanctions for Russia.
4.     Barrack Obama declares urgent humanitarian situation in Mexico.

The editors this time around put the stories in order of most relevant and the ones with the information also this order is in the order of dangerous to serious like before they put the more dangerous news stories first and maybe the ones after that are not as bad.

The third day:

1. Gaza conflict continues with no let-up of the attacks.
2. Britain’s economy is now bigger then it was at the beginning of the financial crisis.
3. Ed milliband says “If you want a politician from central casting, vote for the other guys.
4. Global hunt for Vladimir Putin’s daughters continues in surrey.

The editors arranged the stories in order of the most popular and breaking news to the stories with less relevance and information and they put the two british stories last meaning something big may occur or they just want to put the news from negativity to positivity.

Saturday 5 July 2014

1) What were the five stories your group chose to broadcast?
Green ford story: sports day was changed to another day because of the strikes on Thursday therefore resulting in school not on that day and it is no in the school filed not perivale track.
International news: Palestinian teenage body found in JerusalemLondon news: new antibiotics being made.
sports news:UK regulator investigating whether Facebook broke data protection laws.
Funny news story:
Woman gives birth to her child in Birmingham, outside Primark.

2) For each story above, explain WHY you chose that particular story and not something else. Why would it interest a Greenford audience?
G-we told this story because may students are disappointed about this.
I-We chose this story because the boy was kidnapped before his death.
S-We chose this story because the world cup is now the recent sporting event and everyone especially team supporters of USA wonder if the win of Argentina was fair.
F- We chose this story because its kind of random and since it was outside a well known store (primark) it makes it even more funny.

3) What order did you broadcast the stories in? Why did you place the stories in that order?
We did the Greenford news first because we are the ones who are missing out on sports day. We did our international news second because it was really shocking how the boy died The third story we broadcasted was the Facebook investigation and we chose this as our third broadcast because Facebook is used by nearly everyone therefore people our now doubting if its safe to go on the website. As fourth we did the football news because we knew that as the world cup at the moment has so many fans viewing the matches from all around the world it would'v matter to them to know if the game was fair. We placed the funny news story at last place because we decided to finish of with a smile as all the news mentioned previously were bad news therefore finishing with happy and funny news was a good end.

4) How did you make sure the script was the right length?
We made sure by keeping the script shot and interesting so it would keep the audience listening and entertained.

5) How did you make sure each story was clear and easy to understand?
We wrote only the main points that needed to be said and left out all the unnecessary information.

6) How did you make sure the broadcast was professional?
As I was presenting it I made sure I spoke In full sentences and made sure everything I said was at a steady pace and clear and maintained full eye contact with the camera so it looked like I knew what I was going to say and made me look professional and confident as I said it.

7) What was your specific role in the group?
To present what was written as news on a piece of paper.

8) Rate your group’s ability to work collaboratively out of 5 (1=poor, 5=excellent)
Answer: 4, this is because we did have a bit of a laugh at the end but when we put our heads down and got to work we did pleasantly.

9) How could your group have worked more effectively as a team?
We could have done the work in a jiffy then after we could do whatever we wanted if we had done the questions given to answer by us.

10) Finally, what would you have done differently if you were given the opportunity to do this again?
I would have chosen more interesting news presented it professionally and done everything without any fault.
